Comments: I believe this recipe originally came from one of the Navy wives that mom has known through the years. It is a great dish for a holiday gathering because it is made the night before and then just needs to be baked the next morning.

  • 10 slices white bread (without crusts)
  • 1 can niblets corn, well drained
  • 1 small can chopped green chilis
  • 4 eggs with 3 cups of milk
  • 1 lb. nippi cheese, grated (any good chedder will do) – save some cheese for sprinkling on top
  • salt, pepper to taste
  • paprika on top if you like

(Can add ham, chorizo or any meat you want if you like)

1. Break up bread, add rest of ingredients and mix well.  Pour into 13 by 9 (3-4 qt pan) Leave for 24 hours in refrigerator.

2. Bring to room temperature and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour. If you are using pyrix you can just go straight from the refrigerator to oven and cook a few minutes longer.

This is good served with fruit salad.
